The Shenlong study tour is organized by seven enthusiastic members of the study tour committee of e.t.s.v. Thor, the study association of the department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology.
Martyn van Dijke – Chairman
After participating in the SPARK study tour to Russia and South Korea in 2017, Martyn was so amazed that he wanted to organize a study tour himself. He has always enjoyed traveling and going to places far beyond the ‘normal’ vacation destinations, with his most favorite trip being the SPARK study tour. Martyn is also the Commissioner of External Affairs for Thor in the year 2018-2019.
Bram Lustenhouwer – Secretary
Bram is a bachelor student in Electrical Engineering and has taken part in several committees within Thor. One of those committees was the small study trip to Romania, BAT in 2018. After organizing this trip, he wanted to organize a bigger study tour to a country outside of Europe. That is why he has decided to start up this committee from scratch. With his experience as Commissioner of Education at the study association in 2017-2018, he has a lot of contacts within the faculty and knows how to organize larger activities within the association.
Julian Krol – Treasurer
Julian is an Automotive Technology student and has participated in many activities within the study association. After having participated in the previous study tour SPARK to Russia and South Korea in 2017, he really wanted to organize a study tour himself. Being able to explore both the cultural and technological sides of China is an opportunity he is really looking forward to. He will fulfill the function of treasurer of the study tour committee.
Thijs Lacquet – General member
Thijs has been really active at Thor. He has been part of several committees and one year as the Commissioner of Education in the Board in 2018-2019. After being a participant in the BAT study trip to Romania in 2018, he decided that he wanted to organize a study tour himself. He is responsible for the logistics and he helps Julian with the finances.
Marjolijn Kleijer – General member
Marjolijn is an Electrical Engineering student and an active member of Thor, including being part of the board of the association for one year, as Vice-President in 2017-2018. Her passion for traveling started after participating in a group trip to Peru for doing volunteer work. After participating in more various group trips to Indonesia and Romania, Marjolijn wanted to organize such a trip herself and joined the committee which is organizing a study tour. As a member of the study tour committee she will be responsible for the excursions, both technical and recreational, during the study tour and the activities for the participants before the study tour.
Quinten Aalders – General member
Quinten is an Electrical Engineering student and an active member of Thor. He really likes travelling and preferably to far away and exotic locations like China. Like most Electrical Engineering students he has an interest in technology and since China is such a large global producer of technology it seems like the ideal trip. Quinten will arrange the sponsoring and cases.
Jos Willems – General member
Jos is an Automotive Technology student and he is an active member of Thor. He followed up Bram and Thijs as the Commissioner of Education of Thor in 2019-2020. He likes organizing and achieving something big in a team and wants to get more travel experience, so organizing a study tour is a perfect opportunity for that. Within the committee, Jos is responsible for the publications and the website. Given his contacts in the department, he also helps Quinten with case studies from the department.
